The Huf building on Hoogstraat is one of the key monuments in the rebuilding of Rotterdam. Architects Van den Broek & Bakema designed the ground floor to be one large showcase, with an enclosed storage facility on the floor above. An innovative curtain wall, made of steel and glass, was added to the three office floors and the adjoining residence. The first company to use the building was Shoe depot Huf in 1954. The landmark building was restored to its full glory in 2009. The redeveloped building, now containing contemporary shops and offices and a penthouse, has been declared a national monument.
